USSD is a banking method where you can perform bank transactions using your mobile phone without any data connection. This is an easy and very convient way of carrying out your banking transactions without stress.

So before I call it a day, I will be walking you through the various steps of using the guaranty trust bank USSD code to carry out various banking transactions.

To buy airtime for yourself, dial *737# and then answer  with 1. You wil then be asked for the amount of airtime you want to buy.

To buy airtime for your family member or friends, dial *737# and then answer 2. You will then be asked for the phone number of your family member or friend and finally, you will be asked for the amount of airtime you want to buy for them.

To buy data for either you or your friends, dial *737# and then answer 4.

To transfer money from your account to any other bank account being managed by guaranty trust bank, dial *737# and then answer 5, you will be asked for the account number and after which you would type the amount of money you wish to transfer. Before the transaction is finally processed, you woukd be shown the full name of the account holder for further verification

To transfer money from your account to any other bank account not being managed by guaranty trust bank, dial *737# and then answer with 6, you will be asked for the account number and the name of the destination bank after which you would type the amount of money you wish to transfer. Before the transaction is finally processed, you would also be shown the full name of the account holder for further verification.

And finally, the one that most people use often. To check your account balance using the guaranty bank USSD banking, all you need to do Is dial *737# and then answer with 9. You would only be asked for your secret pin after which you would see the following

  • Your account number
  • Your bank account balance
  • Your bank verification number (BVN)
